My guess is that its a form of partial avoidance. To understand what partial avoidance is, you first have to know what avoidance is.

Avoidance is when someone who has social anxiety avoids the situations that make them feel anxious. They may avoid doing speeches in school. They may see someone they know walking towards them down the street and quickly try to find ways to avoid them. They may even get to the point of staying inside their house all day. These are all examples of avoidance. You avoid the people, places, and situations that make you feel anxious.

So now what does partial avoidance mean? Partial avoidance is a little more subtle than regular avoidance.

Partial avoidance means that you avoid situations mentally instead of physically. Instead of avoiding the situation by not going into it physically, you avoid it with your mind. You are distancing yourself from the anxiety-provoking situation you are in through using distractions, daydreaming, and so on.

Even though I live my life normal and i know that Im walking somewhere my head makes me think im somewhere else I have my chlidren with me and Im not present in what they tell me. dont know how to stop my daydreaming, i am always thinking and daydreaming in classes. hi my name is Stephen Martina at freedom education dot CA and today I want to talk to you about how to eliminate negative thoughts and that little voice in your head now you might be thinking what little voice in my head and if you are that’s the one I’m talking to that one right there that said what little noise okay so here we go what your mind just loves to be directed okay it’s a terrible terrible leader but it’s a great follower it’s very very open to suggestion so what you want to do is just keep this in mind when you’re eliminating or removing that little voice in your head that negative voice you want to keep in mind that you’re not completely removing it a lot of people are trying to do that without being effective or successful in this because you need to replace it because everything’s in a continuous state of change so all you want to do is replace that negative with it’s polar opposite okay so that’s I’m going to teach you how to do there are three steps to do that here we go step number one okay so the first step is identifying the negative voice the negative thought and usually what happens is there’s a repeating phrase or a few words like I’m not good enough I’m not smart enough it can be anything I can’t pay the bills whatever the phrases that you’ve latched on to in the or continuously I can’t do it I can’t do it I can’t do it whatever it is write those words down that’s your starting point okay so write down your first negative thought on a piece of paper do that now okay great you’re in good hands you’re doing great now you’ve got the first statement down you want to go to step two step two is to pick a phrase or a few words that are the exact opposite of that statement and you’re going to use that as your replacement thought okay so in my case I was picking the example of I can’t do it I can’t do it I can’t do it I can’t do it I’m gonna pick the opposite of that I can do it I know I can do it I know I can do it so if you haven’t picked a positive thought yet make sure you write one down do that now okay great you’re doing fantastic so so far you’ve got your negative thought you’ve got a positive thought here we go we’re on the final step now what you might want to do is watch the video first and then rewind back to this section and then hit play again so that you can follow along but this is what you want to do you want to take your negative thought and you want to start to reply it to yourself and say it out loud as you say it out loud you want to start to turn it down and grab just like you’re grabbing a speaker volume a volume dial and you’re going to start turning it down okay just like this I can’t do it I can’t do it I can’t do it I can’t do it I can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do it i can’t do i can’t do I can’t do I can’t do it I can’t do it and then you’re going to take the positive thought and you’re going to start to crank that right up I know I could I know I know I can do I don’t know I can do it I know I can do I know I can do I know I can do it I know I can do I know I can do it I know I can do it I know I can do it I know I can do it I know I can do it I know I can do it I know I can do it I know I can do it and that’s how you make the replacement you go from negative to positive that’s the best way to do it guys I’m telling you if you try to just eliminate negative thoughts in one shot it won’t work but if you do the replacement just like I suggested then you’re going to see results my name is Stephen martini thank you for watching and listening and we’ll talk to you soon.
